The corridor felt empty that day like we were alone.
As our eyes met while you were pushed I knew that was it, our last look.
I called out just as you were wheeled past and the words I
love you descended and echoed against the rubber floor.
The last time our eyes locked was
a fleeting glance of pain tinged with love.

A sobering reality of our mortality.
I want to be better.
I want to succeed in your eyes and mine.
I want to deliver and descend into an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment.
I don' twant that to be the last look I don't want that to be the last look

Your heart, your eyes your teeth my soul Is stretched,

I hope one day I'm not playing pretend .
I hope one day our eyes will meet in the sand, the clouds or the stars.

For although you're gone, and I'm left in loss, billions of molecules combusted in your lungs, and with your last act exploded into being, escaped your lips, circled the room, rattled the walls and smashed one another, and as your heart ceased, the nurse burst in, those
particles of breath were sucked into the ward, through the double doors running for their freedom.

departing the building and scattering through the streets where they raced through traffic, danced through fields, soared over trees, landing on shores, surfing on waves, streaming through mountains, fighting through deserts, tornadoes and typhoons.

One day you’ll circle round the world and end up on my lips,
a journey of survival where we can finally fit.

We have inhaled the very first of us and the last will inhale me.
I feel every bit of pain, and love and nothing in between.
